We’ve had some illness around here lately. Pneumonia, sniffles, upset tummies. Not sure what I’ve got but it’s not terrible. I’ve been hearing about the benefits of apple cider vinegar for years but was hesitant to to try them because I’m particularly fond of the taste of ACV.
But then I found this Sweet Apple Cider Vinegar Elixir on Pinterest. It’s described as “sweet” and “delicious”. I bought raw, organic ACV, I had all the other ingredients. I was coughing a bit this morning & decided to make it.
Not really sweet. Not really delicious. Tastes like ACV with cinnamon. Some say “It’s an acquired taste”. I even added more apple juice. I’ll finish drinking it but I’ll probably try the other ACV elixir I found on Pinterest. I know the rest of my family won’t drink this.
Maybe I’ll acquire a taste for it by the time I’m finished with this glass. I used natural apple juice, maybe one of the other brands like Mott’s, which are much sweeter, would make a difference. But then, I don’t buy those brands! Honey instead of Super Sweet (recipe calls for Stevia) might make a difference, too. I’m willing to try again with honey 🙂

I tried the same elixir tonight that I too found on Pinterest. I ended up using Raw Honey instead of the Stevia because I knew it had more nutritional benefits, while still giving the sweetness it needed. It was pretty decent. The ACV is still strong, and it wasn’t amazing, but I had no problem getting it down. I also bought an all natural apple/strawberry juice from a local farm, so that my have helped too. I too won’t buy Motts.
I will definitely use raw honey in the future. I ended up not finishing the drink, it was just too strong. Apple strawberry juice sounds super yummy!!
Just a follow-up I have also found that it is easier to mix in the honey just with the ACV before putting anything else in. The ACV breaks down and dissolves the honey better than the other ingredients, otherwise once you put the water and juice in sometimes you get a honey clump if you mix in the honey after.
Thanks for letting me know! I’m not a big fan of honey clumps in my drinks 🙂
